Day 16: Live Life Devotional

Image result for this life is temporary

Day 16

What do you value?

A major step in getting closer to your purpose is changing your perspective on life.  I had mentioned before that we get caught up with life’s tasks.  It’s a pretty normal occurrence in today’s time.  We must learn how to set our minds on the things above and not on the things in the here and now.

Why?

Well, because we are not from this world, and this is not our home!  Give me a chance a little later to explain this more.  This idea will require a lot of faith in order to sow it in our heart.

The bible shows us in many places how not to and why not to get caught up with temporary things.  It says that moth will eat and time will eventually destroy the things that we put value on.  The things that we can’t see are the things that will last forever.

Temporary things will pass away . . .

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Matthew 6:19-21

In order to find our purpose we need to change our perspective in what we value . . . here is a list of somethings that we should value:

-Relationship with God

-Relationship with family and others

-Serving one another

-loving one another

What is it that you value? What things take priority in your life? I suggest that you make a list or journal about your insights.

Verse to meditate on:

While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Corinthians 4:18
