Motivation for Monday: PEACE

This is going to be a quick post and the last one for the year.

Here is your motivation for Monday:

PEACE

Grab a hold of this gift and it will prepare you for new levels.

Peace is a gift that not everyone has. Many people struggle because they worry about the future.  They stress about what is going to happen next or what is not going to happen for them.  The Lord knows that plans that he has for you.  He has plans to prosper you and give you hope for the future.  He has plans to let you shine and show your goodness to the world.  He is a mighty God who want you to depend on him.  He wants you to relax.  Stop worrying.  He will give you riches (different from false worldly riches) but he will give you kingdom blessing that you do not have to toil for.  He is in the business of taking care of his children.  Our job is not to worry about it, but to pray about it; making our request known to our wonderful father.  He will take care of it because he is holy.  We just need to trust and believe that he has these wonderful things waiting for us.  He is waiting for us to accept the gift of life through his son Jesus Christ.  When we do this, so much more will happen for us.  We will receive a peace that elevates us to new understandings.  We will understand the language of holiness.  Be ye holy, for the Lord God is Holy.  This means to change your mind about the way things should work and start understanding the way that the kingdom works.  The kingdom works on purpose.  There is a purpose in accepting the gift of peace.

I had a pastor who always greeted the congregation with his favorite scripture.  He would always proclaim:
Follow peace with all men, Holiness without, no man shall see the Lord.

I want to send you

PEACE

I give to you and pray for you peace in this present time, in this holiday time, and for the new year.  Stay happy and peaceful in your heart.  Let people see that you are considerate in all that you do.  You are loving and kind.  You are a person who means to do well and share the love that Jesus has shared with you.  Rejoice, again I say rejoice.  Know that the savior is with you every where your go.  Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything that you think you need; everything that you think you want; and everyone that comes to your mind.  Place tot he bottom the thoughts that exhault themselves above the truth of the word of God.  Know that the word of truth will never fade away. Follow the goodness and the mercy of the Lord and he will bless you so abundantly.  He will fill your heart with so much love, joy, and peace that people will not understand it.

You, my friend, are awesome and you deserve to be happy.

You, my friend, have gone through enough hard ache, enough struggle, and enough pain. . .

You deserve PEACE in your life

My cousin told me something about peace the other day he said:

Positive Energy Always Creates Elevation

P        E        A      C       E

I wrap it up with pretty paper and I place a tag of blessing on it.  This is yours to open for your new year.  Keep your focus and stay positive and you will be sure to elevate to the next level of understanding.

Peace to you friend.

If you are not used to memorizing scripture here is one that I want you to spend the next two weeks memorizing:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus

Philippians 4:6-7

Motivation for Monday: Perspective

Announcement:

You guys know that this is probably one of my most favorite things to do; writing this blog.  However, every year, twice a year, I take a sabbatical from my writing in order to spend more time with my family. That time is almost here!  I get excited because it is kind of recalibrating my mind to get ready for a whole new year of experience and hope.  So, next week will definitely be my last Motivation for Monday until around January 20th, 2019.  I do the same thing in the summer from June 15th to July 15th.

Wait there is more!

I have been working on somethings. . . My website: artteacher4purpose.com is up and running with the book store started (but still being modified).  I will be concentrating on that for 2019.  I will also provide more of my books and art work for purchase on that site.  Check me out!

You all probably are aware at this point that I have a passion for education and I am disappointed in the neo-liberal capitalistic system that treats our children like robots and disposable workers.  I'm fighting against it and I can only do that with what I know how to do: I write, and I create.  Check out my e-book available on Amazon.  I am just trying to raise money so that I can reinvest it into programs, ideas, and causes that will bring awareness to our failing education system in America.  I am just starting off small, this is all I know how to do . . .

The word says not to despise small beginnings . . . Our purpose is to grow . . . so just start!!

Your motivation for Today:

Just start Growing!

You can do it!  It is programmed in your DNA.  You have everything inside of you to help you grow into the person you are supposed to be.  Let God show you the correct perspective in viewing this world. . .

I don't know if I had shared this with you before, but the following excerpt about M. Night Shyamalan's book "I Got Schooled" was in one of my drafts.  Recently in school we were talking about how different outrageous theories would be applied in our post-modern society.  Post modernism is understanding and respecting everyone's view as their individual perspective.  Therefore nothing is considered absolute truth or totally real.  It all depends on how a person sees things. . . The more I think about it the more I think that the majority of people are absolutely delusional and crazy.  I feel like our culture is moving into a atmosphere of excuses and escape as people compromise their morals to do what ever they want to do.  This world will soon be split up into so many cliques and everyone will feel justified in their findings because they only see what they choose to see.  Instead of post modernistic ideals uniting people, they will ultimately destroy the world.  But that is just my opinion and I have no solution to offer for this problem.

The Lord said that this would happen.  We live in a time where right is considered to be wrong and wrong considered to be right.  I chose not to go that way.  I respect everyone's opinion.  I will listen to you in what ever your ideas are, but I will not fall away from the ultimate truth and that is the word of God.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6

This is my perspective and I am sticking with it.  I will keep growing with the Holy Spirit and not with the world culture.

Perspective is a powerful tool that can allow a person to create a vision in the mind and reproduce it to the world in a creative way.  As an artist I always try to respect a person’s perspective.  It is by his view that he communicates his creation to the audience.   Just like an artist, each person’s views, ideas, beliefs, and interpretations of the world around him is communicated through his experiences.  It is a person’s view that opens communication in a language that has not been heard before.  Why is this?  It is because every person’s perspective is unique.  Each of us has a different set of experiences that mold us into who we are.  One’s world view is always valuable to offer insight and solution.

I remember sitting in a professional development session as a teacher in the Camden City School district while our principal introduced a book to the staff entitled “I Got Schooled,” written by well known filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan.  I thought to myself, “What does a multi-million dollar filmmaker know about closing the achievement gap in education?” My heart burned with discusts as our young and inexperienced principal tried to explain that research showed, as collected for this book, that student achievement had nothing to do with smaller class sizes, parent involvement, or poverty level.  Instead, this filmmaker conceived of five key components that would strengthen student performance and therefore close the achievement gap. I don't remember what those 5 component findings were, but I do remember all the angry faces in that place. . .

There was not one veteran teacher that agreed with these findings but there was a room filled with contempt for this book.  The situation was that we were teachers who taught children in a low income school district.  We were teachers who worked tirelessly to help our students become better students, better thinkers, and therefore productive citizens to their community.  We saw first hand, the importance of parent involvement and the challenges that poverty presented to the overall educational experience of the child. Hence, most of the teachers of this school would agree that we disagreed with the findings of the book.  However, there was a problem.
The problem was that the findings of the study was presented by a gentleman, our principal, that was displaced and unaware of the veteran experience present in the room that day.  He offered only his perspective of the book and expected for teachers to accept it as truth.  We did not understand his language of communication.

There was a second problem.  The teachers did not read the book for themselves.  If we had read the book for ourselves we would have been offered a different perspective of what the film-maker was trying to convey to his audience. Out of respect for the artist, I wanted to understand Shyamalan’s worldview.

In an interview with Shyamalan, Goral (2014) asked Shyamalan directly what the data presented as the main problem with inner city schools, and what were his conclusions about the findings.  Shyamalan responds by concluding that the problem is not the schools themselves, nor the teachers, nor the students.  Instead, the problem was the message that this country sends to the students during their normal course of living.  Shamaylon notes that 98% of the inner city student population, being hispanic and African American, receive the message that they do not belong in this country.  Additionally, inner city students are constantly being told that they are “powerless,” and “Not meant to succeed.”

As a teacher of ten years in a district labeled as a low performing school district, I can agree with these findings.  Although I didn’t agree at first, I see the power of world view at play.  The data collected by the research team of Shyamalan allowed the issue of education to be opened up to a whole new audience.  His approach to the problem allowed for a new method of interpretation.  When this happens, new avenues to finding solutions can be explored and later paved.

I can see this beneficial to me as a Christian while conducting research in my area of study.  A Christian worldview can expand an otherwise narrow subject to a wider audience.  A Christian worldview built on the foundation of faith can introduce a concern to a brand new audience which overall can be beneficial to raising awareness of a specific issue.  It allows for bridges to be made and therefore ideas to cross and communicate with each other.  This type of communication fosters new solutions to be discovered that may not have been otherwise; especially if a new perspective did not allow it.

We all have different backgrounds, different perspectives, and different revelations of what is real.  Reading and researching just gives us a glimpse of someone else's insights.  It is possible to remain unbiased if one keeps an open mind about what someone else is trying to communicate.  Sometimes, regardless of religious background, race, creed, color, social status or any other status, someone might be trying to convey the same points and ideas as you.  We just have to grow in learning each other’s language.  We must be aware enough to realize and recognize a different language due to a different world view.
Goral, T. (2014) The secret to closing the Achievement Gap: How an ‘outsider’ looked at the big picture in education to see what others don’t, 14. Live your Life on Purpose until next time Tamorra Proximity Perspective Persuasion is the idea that you see things the way that you see them based on how close or how far you are from it. It is a concept of what you convince yourself to observe is based on how you are interpreting your visual perspective. Are you really aware of what is going on in this world.? Is what you see the absolute truth or must we start depending on a higher intelligence that can see things from all angles, from all lines of time, from infinite space and beyond. I no longer trust my self, I only trust the Lord.

Motivation for Monday: God wants to talk to you

Got slayed in the spirit yesterday!

I realize that these may be words that not everyone is familiar with.  Well, this is just the church lingo to help explain how the Holy Spirit can come to you and fill you with his spirit.  It is a supernatural occurrence that you don't have to be afraid of or run away from.  It is something that God's people should recognize as normal.  It is a way for God to communicate with you.  There is no reason to think that God does not talk to each and everyone of us.

Here is your motivation for Monday:

God wants to talk to you

and he will do it however you are comfortable

Here is the thing,  don't let anyone make you feel that you are not worthy to hear from God.  The father allowed us to have direct communication with him through his son.  That may be a little confusing, but you must grab the understanding that Jesus is God.  Jesus is God with us.  He is Jehovah God, the one who saves his people from their sins.  Hence, God made a way for us to communicate with him, through the death of Jesus and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit.

Yes, I know, that is a lot of Spiritual Lingo!

Let me share this about the new covenant, or the new PROMISE!

The new promise that God made with his people can be found all through out the bible but check this out about communicating with God:

But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days said the Lord I will put my law in their inward parts and write it in their hearts and will be their God and they shall be my people.  And they shall teach no more everyman his neighbor and everyman his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least to the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. . .

Jeremiah 31:33-34

What does all of that mean?

This means that each and every person has the ability to connect to the father through Jesus Christ.

You need no man to teach you, you just need to call on the name of the Lord and he will save you.  He will teach you step by step what to do and where to go.  So, I know that people often wonder why God doesn't talk to them while other people claim that they talk to God all of the time.  Well, it all depends on your relationship.  The Lord is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.  Just like any other relationship,  friendship, or commitment;  the more time you spend with a person the closer you get to them.  I encourage you to spend time with the Lord, he is a person.

How does The Lord speak to us?

In our quiet time

in our prayer time

through other people

through our creative practice

through our study and bible reading time

through that small still voice

through dreams, and visions

through our children

through our work

through our life experiences

through analogies, parables, and coincidences

etc. . .

God speaks to us all of the time.  We just have to learn how to hear his voice.  His voice can take on many forms, but it is always connected back to the living word of truth, the bible.  This conversation has come up for me because of a discussion we were having about dreams is PSYCH class.  The question was inquiring if God talks to us through our dreams; to which I responded with a big fat
YES!!!

The following is what I posted in class:
Yes, dreams are important to God. Throughout the bible we read scriptures that are symbolic of something deeper and more intricate.  We may not always connect to the true meaning unless we are aware of other understandings and interpretations. We must take the time to learn and grow in order to grasps the deeper meaning of the living word. God is the creator that deals with the unseen, then manifests those ideas into reality.  Hence, he is the original dreamer.  He is the giver of vision. So, it is also probable that everything that we are seeing with our eyes is only a representation of what is real:
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18 KJV
We believe that what we see is real, and therefore it is:
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
The reason why you think it, is the same reason why you eventually see it, is the proof that it has always been.

We see a pattern with the way that God communicates with us. He tells us to meditate on his word which signifies the importance of grasping the deeper meaning. We must let the word of God become part of us, not only existing on the outside but on the inside. Jesus taught in parables which were small representations of the full teaching that later revealed itself on the inside of man. The parables them self had surface level meanings with deeper revelations that could only be understood through the growth of the learner.  The meaning must become a part of you, way deep down in the marrow of your bones, in the crevices of your soul, and in the recesses of your mind.
The king of Babylon had a dream that he saw clearly, but lacked the connection to the symbolic meaning to make sense of it.  So, the king sent for Daniel. Daniel’s interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar's statue dream had a surface meaning that was relevant in his time but also holds a strong message for us today. It is the historical representation of the fallen empires of the world and the announcement of the messiah, Jesus Christ coming to reign on earth. Now, to some it may only be a dream that once lived in the unconscious mind of a troubled king, but to Christians it is a message that brings great hope. God is always trying to communicate with us. There is always a deeper meaning.
When it comes to developing our relationship with God, it is about letting his word live on the inside (the unconscious, the unseen) so that it can then manifest itself into our current reality (the conscious, the seen).

I share all of this to get to this simple point:

Forget about all of the spiritual language

Forget about thinking that you have to be smarter, or more connected, or more spiritual

SMH

God wants to talk to you

He desires a relationship with you

and he will meet each and everyone of us on our level, in our understandings, and in our minds

He will write his truth in our hearts

and we will be his people

and he will be our God
