Throw back Thursday: Pray for your future

I have been meditating on this verse recently:

Be careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

and the peace of God which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Phillippians 4:6-7



I looked up the NIV:

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.


Reviewing, meditating, praying over, and reading scripture is how I ask God for new revelations.  It is not that the word is changing, but our understanding of what it all means. Several things that the Lord has revealed to me about his way, but one that I need to share with you right now:

Pray in the future /for the future like it is happening right now.


This is to say, that we are not worrying about what is going to happen but instead we pray with expectancy.  We pray with thoughts of the best possible outcome, and then we can see the prayers we need to pray to support that outcome.  We pray to prepare the way and the path God needs us to go . . .

This is not an easy concept to explain, but if we pray with the joy and happiness that things have already worked out, then our spiritual eyesight and perspective will change to what we really need to pray for.  There are billions of things that we should be praying for but it seems like we say the same prayers over and over.


Pray for all things and let us get off of the megaphones repeating the same prayers over and over. 

God wants you to ask for the promises that he has already written for you.  He wants to give them to you.  He wants you to ask for them.  You may not see them now, but you will see the manifestation of them if you pray for them.  The praying is for you! To open your mind to the possibilities of the future.  Prayer is for you! 

You often don't get what you want because you ask for things that are not in your destiny.  We often get things we want because we get them by our own merits.  We will things into existence, but that takes up a lot of time if it is not what God wants for you. It also waste a lot of time. We are always very busy, but we  fail to complete the Lord's work.  I say this to make this point:  Read your bible and develop your relationship with the Lord so that you can know what you should be praying for . . .


Let us rejoice in the goodness of the Lord, knowing that our good prayers have been answered.  Let us continuously thank him for those prayers answered that we never recognized; for that cancer that you never saw, for that blessing of a twenty year friendship, from that car accident that you did not get into, for that job you did not get, and for that house you did not buy.  Let us thank him for the children that are healthy, the peace in our houses, and the maintenance that we do not have to do on our cars.  Let us be thankful for all the things that we take for granted.  Thank you Lord

Thank you Lord


Pray in the morning for the rest of your day.  Pray with the expectancy of blessings and peace.  Be thankful unto the Lord and bless his name.  He will give you peace that surpasses all understanding.

Pray for your year, that it will be the ushering in of so many good things that your cup runneth over.

Pray for your children. Pray for their success and their relationship with God. Pray for their spouses before they even get married. Pray for your grandchildren and their grandchildren.  May your family be blessed generation after generation.

Pray that your business will prosper.  Pray that when it does, it is covered from all angles.  Pray that God gives you the prayers to pray to protect it.


I can go on in on about how to pray for your future.  Understand that we are in time, but our God does not operate in time.  What you pray for now, he will take care of right now.  The curses that you rebuke from words spoken against your family in the past, God will reach back in the time line, grab them and destroy them.  We are free!  Know this, believe it, know the power of prayer.

Don't worry about tomorrow, and stop praying out of worry.

We thank him for all that he has done and all that he is doing for us . . .

We rejoice in the goodness that the Lord wants for us.  Rejoice, I say Rejoice!
