Day 30

"The purpose of our lives is to be happy." Dalai Lama

I am going to have to disagree with this quote . . .

God wants us to be happy, but that is not the purpose of life.  Jesus had to die on the cross to fulfill his purpose and I'm sure he wasn't too happy about being whipped, taunted, and nailed to the cross . . .  Jesus fulfilled his purpose because he loved the Lord.

I can't go along with this quote just because it sounds good.  Yes, we all want to be happy.  The thing is, do we really trust ourselves in coming up with that definition of happiness?

My God tells me something totally different about what my purpose in life is.  Collectively, our purpose is to serve the Lord, but each person has their individual gifts and talents to make that come about.

Ultimately, the only true way to be happy is to serve the Lord by giving him total control over our lives, but it takes many of us so long to figure this one out!  When we try to be happy in this world, we will get let down every time.

Many of us are searching for happiness and a way to feel good about our lives. It is hard to give up control over our life especially if we are convinced that no one or nothing else can do better for us then us.  The word of God tells us that we will never be satisfied in the natural mindset unless we change our mind to a spiritual way of thinking.  This is repenting; admitting that our way is not the right way, regardless if we feel we are a good person or not.  If we really want to be happy, we have to give our life to the Lord and follow him.

"Happy is he that follow the law" Proverbs 29:18

The law is the word of God, and the word of God is Jesus Christ.

You are not truly a Christian (follower of Christ) until you change your mind about how you chose to live your life. The conversation with Jesus may sound something like this “Father God, in the name of Jesus, I am a sinner.  Please forgive me for my sinful nature. Please help me to follow in your way and not my own way.  Amen.”

There are a lot of Christians in other countries being persecuted for their beliefs but they still are on a mission to spread the word of Jesus Christ.  This is our purpose, to share the word and not be afraid to do so.

We are all learning and we want to do well in this walk.  You may not understand it now, but one day you will.

What special gift did God give you that will help you spread his word?

Find your specific purpose for the Lord and you will find your happiness.

Until Next Time
