Live Life: The Lord's Prayer

A lot of us may be familiar with the Lord's prayer.  We recite it at church, we sing it at weddings, and we hear it often as the go to prayer in the Christian arsenal.  But when we say it, do we say it in vain or do we know the meaning of it?  Do we take it to heart and gain an understanding of what it really means?

"When you pray, use not vain repetition as the heathen do for they think they should be heard for their much speaking."

When we pray, we should always be referring back to the word of God, speaking it into the heavens, and expecting a return on those words.  When we pray, we should make it personal so that we interpret these words in our dialect.  Everyone's prayer will be different, because it is given to you by the holy spirit.

For example I may pray the following for the Lord's Prayer:

My heavenly father that is in the expanse of Heaven.  You are everywhere.  You see all things and understand all things.  You are the creator of all things.  I lift up your holy name because you are the creator.  You are awesome my Holy God.

When your government comes to the earth,  Your will will be done.  Everything that you had set into action, everything that you have thought of and decreed, will come to pass according to your purpose.  Your law is supreme in heaven and it will also be in us, and therefore in this world.

Give us today everything we need to know in this day; to do your will, and to follow your purpose.  Forgive us when we do the wrong thing and go against your purpose.  We do not mean to.  We are trying to learn and trying to grow.  Allow us the time to learn your ways.

We thank you for forgiving us.  Teach us how to forgive those who do things that lead us away from your purpose.  Teach us how to forgive those who we feel owe us something, those who lie to us, cheat us, steal from us, and kill us.  They will have their reward.  Allow forgiveness to fill our hearts so that we can move on to do your will.

Protect us from ourselves, from our lusts, from our selfish ways.  Keep us from walking in the ways of this worldly government.  Keep us out of the purpose of the evil one.  For we want to live in your purpose, in your kingdom government, in your power, for your glory forever and ever.  Thank you for your awesome plan.  I am on board! Amen.
