Freedom Friday: How I'm Crushing it! A Gary V book

I'm reading Crushing it by Gary V

If you are an Entrepreneur-Go buy it now-  Get it, Get it, Get it!

This book is getting me  just as hyped as Tim Ferris's book "4 Hour Work Week."

I no longer feel alone in my ideas and mindset.  If you are not aware of what is going on in my life it is simply this:

I got laid off of my job as an art teacher.  This was a job that I had much passion for until I didn't.  The stress got heavier due to school policies and lack of discipline practices in the school.  Also, the wolfs of charter began to take over the public school buildings in Camden City where I worked.  It was a mess.  I didn't love it anymore.  My mind though was still set on education.  I have a passion for teaching that fuels my ambition to advocate change in the American Public School System.

The thing is, this new ambition came at a price.  Currently, I am not making as much money as I used to.  Therefore,  my house got sold in sheriff sale, my car is about to get repossessed, and I recently had to file for bankruptcy.  Most of my income right now goes to paying lawyer fees and my three kid's marching band expenses.  That's it.  I don't have money to shop for food, clothes, or personal hygiene items.  Like Gary V said "You will have to eat sh*t everyday!"  if you want to do this entrepreneur thing.  My trust is solely in the Lord for all of the things that I need.

I know that I am an entrepreneur because I've been selling things since I was a kid.  I used to write people's names in bubble letters at school.  I would charge a standard $1 fee for a quick drawing that took me 3 minutes to do.  I would charge more money if they wanted me to color it in.    I had another business of doing hair.  I loved braiding hair as a creative outlet.  This was one of the ways that I was able to pay for my senior trip in high school.   $10 dollars a pop for the front of your hair in corn-rows.  Half of the girls on my track team hired me to do their hair for the meets.  No one ever told me that I could scale that into a business.  I didn't know.  No one eve told me that I was an entrepreneur.  I want to let you know that if you do things on the side for a hustle, you may be an entrepreneur.

I still do hair today, but it is not part of the grand plan of the things I want to accomplish in the future.

Let me tell  you how

I'm Crushing It and How you can too!

I'm using my creativity everyday to be who I am.  I want to share my thoughts, ideas, and perspectives with the world.  My family may not understand this, but I know that I will succeed in what every I work hard at.  I'm working hard, but I'm about to kick it up a notch.  I often let the people around me influence the way that I think and act.  I had to let that thinking go.  I had to stop being a people pleaser and start being a doer.  This is how I'm crushing it:

#1 Be a doer

I started this journey about 2 1/2 years ago when I started writing this blog.  I felt a force that kept on nudging me to write a book that I was trying to write for the past 5 years.  I finally sat down and just did it.  It took me 2 years to finish.  However, from that book came a plethora of ideas of the different kinds of books that I can put together with the knowledge that I have for business, spiritual awareness, education, and life.

#2 Be Creative

I want to write.  I want to create.  I want to teach.  Finally, I want to live a fulfilled life on purpose.

There is a problem with this though,  If I want to write, I also need people to read. I am learning that people don't like to read.  Why?  Because life is too busy for people to take the time to read.  So, what I want to do is create a business where I can make short e-books with the subjects that you are interested in.  Then create a way for you to listen to it as you are on the go.  This is the business that I want to scale.  This is the business that I want you to be a part of.  This is how I'm crushing it. . .

#3 Be Patient

I started small, but I want it to grow. . .

The word says do not despise small beginnings.  We have to start somewhere.  What ever your business idea, know that you are providing a service.  Know that you can achieve success if you work hard and keep pushing forward.  Design your business to have a strong foundation so that it can keep growing and growing.  You have to be patient and not motivated by money. This is what I'm getting from this book. You have what it takes inside of you to "Crush it!"

Crushing it is about taking the time to write your vision, then making the small steps towards it. . .

#4 Change your Mind Set

"Crushing it" is actually a sequel to Gary V's  2009 release called "Crush it."  In "Crushing it,"  Gary reiterates very important entrepreneur tactics to scale your business using social media platforms.  He takes you on a mind shift awareness journey so that you can start to think about what you are doing wrong in your business and what you are doing right.  I highly suggest you buy the audio book because he goes off script, keeps you up to date with the changing media, and gets brutally honest with why your not crushing it!

Get your mind right!

#5 Become a Reader

This is why I love this book, it is an awareness book.  You don't know what you don't know until you know it.  These are the type of things that I write about on Fridays . . . Mind shifts!

This is a FREEDOM FRIDAY!

"Crushing It"   by Gary V.

Go grab the book.  Change your mind about scaling your business.  Change your mind about working a 9-5 job and being ridiculously unhappy.  I encourage you to start living your life on purpose.  Love the life you live.  Love God.  Love what you do!

Today, I'm not making a lot of money but I am happy.  I'm about to self publish my book.  I'm getting ready to open my E-book business on my website Artteacher4Purpose.com.  I'm building a following and I just went back to school to get my doctorate in the Philosophy of Psychology in Cognitive Instruction.  The plan is to continue speaking on my passion for creative, and mindful education practices.

I'm Crushing It!

Yeeaaaasssssss!

This is good stuff and I just want to thank you for your comments, your shares, and for all my readers.

Freedom Fridays!!

Hello Friends. . .

It is a freedom Friday where I love to connect you to information about the mind bondage that we all are in.  We want to start to gain the insight to these systems that have been set up by the world kingdom.  These systems are  false systems set up by the adversary.  I encourage you to gain understanding of your enemy.  Even more importantly than that, I implore you to get to know your God, your creator.

Why should I develop a personal relationship with God?

"Does something deep inside your heart long to break free from the status quo?  Are you hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical, solutions?  God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself.  Because the answer to religious complacency isn't working harder at a list of do's and don'ts- it's falling in love with God.  And once you encounter his love, as Francis describes it, you will never be the same . . . because when you are wildly in love with someone, it changes everything."

Greeting Friends,

Welcome to those who are just joining us . . . it is a pleasure to have you with us.

I send you peace, and love in all words that I write to you.  May the Holy Spirit speak to us in all truth and love, through the spirit of Christ that is in us all who believe.

I have written many times before on this blog about why we need a personal relationship with the father.  I have spoken about the importance of knowing the Son, Jesus Christ, who connects us to the truth of the father.  But why?  Why is it so important?

Friends, the world is in a state that does not follow the truth.  The things that are wrong are being called right.  The things that are right are being called wrong.  It will only get worse.  It is very easy to fall into traps of popular belief and cultural propaganda.

This is why it is important to know the Lord for yourself.  You must not get in a situation where the world wants to lead you one way, then the Holy Spirit has to compete for your attention or for your affection.  Friends, we do not want to grieve the Holy Spirit.  We instead want to be so close to the Lord that we can hear his directions over everything else in this world.

We are supposed to be living peaceful and quiet lives.  We are supposed to be walking in truth and bringing light to others.  This does not mean that we won't experience opposition from the enemy, but we instead pray about all of our trials.  We ask the father to protect us and we ask the Holy Spirit to teach us.  We can live this Christian life!  We live it successfully by having a strong relationship with the Lord.

How do we do this you ask?

You first accept the gift of salvation.

Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross to save us from our sins.  It is our sin that separates us from our father.  So Jesus's death allows us to have a personal relationship with the father again.

After you have confessed with your mouth and believed in your heart that Jesus paid your sin debt; you are saved.  Now we have peace and freedom in the Lord.  It is at this point that our love and our desire to know more about the Lord should grow every day.

There is a book that I read a long time ago that talks a lot about personal relationship with the Lord.  At the time Francis Chan wrote his book, "Crazy Love,"  he was a young pastor full of energy and excitement about spreading the word of faith.  He was excited to tell everyone how passionate he was about his relationship with the Lord.  He was so outrageously optimistic that he referred to it as a crazy love.  He was so moved by Christ living, moving, breathing and growing in his life that he wrote this awesome memoir about his relationship with the Lord.

His honest words and perspective really inspired me to live totally for Jesus.  It did change my perspective about how close one can really walk with Jesus.  Friends, I am here to tell you that this relationship with your father in heaven is not about religious practice, but instead about a love relationship.  It is about having a sincere desire to be with the Lord for eternity.

God knows that we are sinners and that we can't live a so-called "perfect life."  Living a perfect life is not a requirement to go to heaven.  Instead, we live to fulfill God's purpose.  We live to tell others how easy it is to accept the gift of salvation.  He will help us with the rest:

"Jesus I need to give myself up to you.  I am not strong enough to love you and walk with you on my own.  I can't do it and I need you.  I need you deeply and desperately. I believe you are worth it and that you are better than anything else I could have in this life or in the next.  I want you.  And when I don't, I want to want you.  Be all in me. Take all of me.  Have your way with me."

p111 Crazy Love by Francis Chan

Friends, this is an example of living a surrendered life.  This is an example of how humble we should be before our Lord.  Oh Lord, forgive us for our wrong thinking and come into our lives.
We want a relationship with the father forever!

Let your perfect will be done in our lives
Amen

May the peace of the Lord be with you.
I will add this book to the books4 purpose list

If you desire a closer walk with the Lord and you need an example of what that looks like, then I suggest this book.
 Until next time

Wisdom Wednesday: Meet Ms. Lisa Nichols

We must have wisdom to know and understand that there is always someone older and wiser with a broader perspective.  This person often has the ability to view life from a different vantage point . . .

I call these people Vision Finders.  These are people who have the spiritual insight to help others find their path to purpose. I know this and I hold it in my heart.  No matter how smart I think I am there is always someone smarter with more experience then me.  Therefore I am open to the teachers and mentors that God has placed in my life.

I am not gathering people in my life just to hear what I want to hear.  This is a dangerous thing.  Instead, I know to keep the Lord closer then anyone else so that he can guide me through the things he needs me to experience.  I also know that he has placed people in my life, books in my life, and speakers in my life that will help me get to the next level in my spiritual development.

With that said, I am sharing with you someone that you should get to know. . .

Ms. Lisa

Lisa Nichols is known to be a million dollar entrepreneurial motivational speaker.  She prefers to be known as a transformational coach.  She is an author, business woman, mentor, and thought leader. She prepares your mind to ask and answer life's most difficult questions:

What were you put on this earth to share with others?

What are you doing to make your life more abundant?

She molds your perspective by telling stories that captivate and motivate you to find your purpose in this life.  She was sent by God to get you out of your comfort zone so that you can achieve all the things that God needs you to achieve in this life.

I am reading her new book, "Abundance Now."  If you don't have a handle on the steps you need to take in order to change your life for the better, then you need to read this book.  If you have a vision from God to achieve more by starting a business or other financial opportunity, you should read this book.  She will start growing your mindset so that you can see the types of things you should be doing to move forward in life.

I want to share a video that I found of Ms. Nichols sharing her truth and her wisdom.  But first, I have 11 quotes from her that I want you to think about.  It is my job to help connect you to your purpose.  So, if you read a quote that resonates with you, then I need you to say

YES YES!

Say it out loud to acknowledge that you read something that moved your soul . . .

It is time to Live your Life on Purpose!

It is time to learn God's Unique design for you!

Embrace the wisdom that God has for you through the people he sends to minister to your spirit.

Check out this video from where I got most of these quotes.

Enjoy your Wisdom Wednesday

Until Next Time

Throwback Thursday: READ Mark Batterson/ The Circle Maker

This is what I am reading now . . . .

This is what I read already by Mark Batterson . . .

Here is the Throwback post for the review of Draw the Circle:

But before you go to it let me tell you why I read and why you should read too!

Have you ever heard that God will make you successful in what you were unsuccessful in by yourself?

I have never been a reader.  Actually, I have always struggled with reading and reading comprehension.  I was even put in special classes when I was younger because the school felt I could use the "extra" help.  I guess I believed this all through school because I didn't read, not unless I had to for a class.  Now, look at God.

I want to read everything and I want to read all the time.  Why?  Because I'm a writer and a writer reads . . .

I was in grad-school years ago and we had to go to this seminar up north in order to prepare for our exit interviews.  There was a speaker there who caught my attention and really changed my life.  He said to the group, "How can you ever write anything if you never read anything?"  Those words stick with me until this today.  So, when God placed it on my heart to start writing, he also placed it on my heart to start reading.

I thank God everyday for the opportunities that he has allowed me to have.  I pray everyday that I don't let those gifts go to waste.  I want to do the right thing by pleasing him.  Therefore, I report to you what God has told me to do.  Today he is telling me to tell you to start reading.

You might want to start with what you like reading first!

You have to start training yourself to read, especially if you don't like reading.  I wouldn't start with something entertaining, easy, and enjoyable to you.  Then I would move into some good reads in subject areas that you are interested in.

I was very interested in education, so it was easier for me to read books about education or books that were teaching me something that I wanted to learn about.  I also had a desire to read the bible.  I read the bible in small tidbits to start.  I reviewed my favorite scriptures, prayers, and stories that I found interesting.

The time that I spent in the word of God, turned into long reads.  It turned into 3 hour, 5hour, and 10 hour studies.  As I read, I had a deeper desire to know what the Lord was speaking into my spirit.  Just like the bible, the Lord uses the books that I read to speak into my spirit.  The books that I read now, I know will help people develop a closer relationship with the Lord.

So, this is what I do.  I write, create, and promote information that will bring you closer to God.  God told me that I am a teacher and a connector.  Referring books to you, while giving  you a quick review, will help you decide if it is what God needs you to read for your spiritual growth. . .

Reading books is like taking a supplement. . .

You know when you don't have enough iron in your diet to increase your hemoglobin?  The doctor might prescribe to you an Iron supplement.  He writes you a prescription or tells you to get a vitamin supplement from your local pharmacist.  You go get it, you take it, and over a little time you feel better.  You now have more energy because you received something that you had been missing before.

Well, each person on this earth has something that you need.  Each and everyone of us has something unique that has been given to us by God.  Each person has a secret that you need to unlock your secret.  Hence, it would be wise for us to read the books of people who have found out their secret to life.  They wrote a book just for you.

We should read more because we often are not surrounded by people who know who they are.  They have not become activated yet.  So, not only is their growth stunted, but your growth is stunted also.  You now need to take a supplement.  You need to take a supplement for your missing wise friend, your missing purpose driven teacher, your missing supporting spouse, your missing wealth coach, or your missing transformational leader.  Do you know how to find that supplement?

A good book, given to you by God.

I am not talking about any book, I'm talking about God sent books.  Believe me, you don't just notice a cover of a book all of the time by coincidence.   God is trying to give you a message to read a book to increase your chances of success.  If you read my blog, then you would know that God's definition of success is not the world's definition of success.  Hence, the most important book that you need to read is the bible.  You may not understand it all yet, but you need it to unlock your purpose and to live your life on purpose.

The Bible is the most important book in your life.  If you weren't successful at it before, it was because you were trying with your own strength.  Let God navigate you to your real purpose!

All my best
until next time
-Tamorra

P.S
LOL, I didn't mention anything about prayer, but Mark Batterson does an excellent job exploring the real motives and answers to prayer.  I highly recommend "The Circle Maker," and "Draw the Circle."  Check out an extra book review below.
