Your motivation for Monday:

Seek the Kingdom

Seek the truth of the Kingdom

You will find what you truly are missing

Keep living this Journey to find your purpose!

Greetings My friends,

I send you salutations this morning praying that you are in a good mood and that blessings are following you this week.  I pray that you are developing your relationship with the Lord by taking the time to read a little scripture.  Or perhaps you take some time reading this blog, praying, walking, and talking to him; or what ever he leads you to do to spend time with him.

Spend time with the Lord

This is a very important part of seeking the Kingdom.  More and more we follow the ways of the Lord by getting to know him.  We slowly take on the mind of Christ and leave behind worldly ideas about what it means to be happy.  Here is a warning that I have for everyone:

Do not follow your Heart!!

Why do I say this?  This is obviously a hard subject for us to understand but the Lord wants to be very plain in this explanation.  The world is trying to tell us that we should follow our hearts.  That we should do what makes us happy because this life is so stressful and it seems to be so dismal at times.  The things is, we have a warning in the bible about our hearts.  Our hearts are not to be trusted because our natural hearts are selfish, and do not understand the will of God.  We should then have an understanding of why it is important to be "born again," or in other words completely changed with a new mind, repented, while adopting a new way of thinking; or  receiving a NEW HEART.

In the word of God, our hearts are synonymous with our unconscious minds.  Our feelings, thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and will,  live in a place that is deep with in us.  Now, because we are so conditioned in this culture that we live, we are often more connected to the ways of the world.  So, it is very natural for us to go with the flow and accept ideas like: "Follow your bliss," "You only live once", and "Follow your Heart."

In actuality these are ideas of the occult and the theology of Satan worship.  Satan is the orchestrator of anarchy and revolt.  Not to get anyone upset on this Monday, but Satan is preparing the world for a revolution.  This will be a world with no moral compass, fulfilling the ways of the evil heart and not repented of it's false truths. The more we follow our natural conditions of the heart, the further away we get from God's purpose and the more sorrowful our life will get.  The more chaotic the world will get. Do not go for the false promises that the world presents.  It is never worth it.  Instead, seek after the Kingdom of Heaven and all of the righteousness and the truth that comes from it.  This is what we should follow.  The truth of God's word is what we should be sowing in our minds, better yet, we should be sowing it into our hearts.

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:

24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 139: 23-24

We don't want to admit it, but we don't always make the right decisions.  It is very hard to navigate our way through this life when we don't have the right things in our deepest, most personal thoughts.  A lot of times we are not even aware of what lingers in our subconscious.   What ever our deepest, most ingrained thought processes that are hidden in the unconscious is what and why we do what we do.  Our mind, our will, and our emotions configure our decision making.  Therefore, our true will manifest itself in our everyday lives.  Our thoughts are our lives.  Hence, your mind, will, and emotions (which is your soul) determines the expression of who you really are to the rest of the world.

I am pointed in this direction of the conversation because I am very much on my life journey, trying to figure out what this life is all about.  I have come to this conclusion:

Do not follow the way of the heart, because it can be deceiving, instead follow the ways of the Lord by getting to know who he is.  He will show us the way.  It is only his way that can get us there.

The following blurb of the "Unconscious Mind" is something that I posted on the discussion forum for my doctorate study.  We were discussing Sigmund Freud and his philosophy of the pleasure principle and the avoidance of pain.  Basically this idea claims that the "ID" that is located in our subconscious minds seeks to fulfill our most vital needs such as food, water, sex, and security.  It goes on to say that the reason why we do what we do is because we want to avoid feeling pain and seek after pleasure.  Aware or unaware, our subconscious is then the driving force for most of our decision making.  I thought it would be helpful to those reading, as an extra confirmation that I don't just talk out of my butt!!  I have a lot in this head of mine.  I definitely am not the smartest person but I realize that I am a thinker that recognizes different perspectives and can communicate across those perspectives.  In a sense I am a translator to the soul.  I think this same skill is what makes my artistic talent shine through.  I see things, I inspect things, and I then translate that into a form of art.  I pray that my writing translates to you.

The Unconscious Mind

This is such a interesting concept for me to hear from other academic perspectives. I never really approached the idea of the mind in an academic way. I was raised to be more of a theological scholar and I was taught that what we refer to as the heart is really the mind. More specifically the unconscious mind. We were always told to be careful of the things that we sow in our heart.

The popular culture sayings of "Follow your heart," and "do what makes you happy" is really saying: Do what you feel will make you happy deep inside of your subconscious mind. Hence, we find a culture that is yearning for a more blissful, less stressful way of living. We find ourselves as a whole, searching for the meaning of life, a more spiritual life, and a more purpose filled life. We do this because that "id" wants it, it wants what it lacks.

I feel that the conversation of the mind seems to lean in a more materialistic way rather that the idealistic approach. I think that it is because of my upbringing that I have always seen the mind as an intricate display of hidden thoughts, hidden dreams, hidden knowledge, and hidden desires. For these reasons I do not find Freud's theory of the pleasure principle, id, ego, superego, or other sexual related psyche philosophies far reaching.

I read a variety of spiritual material, including the bible and I have always found the mind to be a deceitful place but a truthful manifestation of what a person truly believes about himself:

As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 KJV

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9

For the imagination of a man's heart is evil from his youth. Genesis 8:21

I agree with you Derek, We are all human beings at the end of the day. We breathe the same air and we are exposed to a variety of stimuli as we grow and mature. There are so many things that make us who we are as individuals. There are so many things that we have no control of. There are so many things that we do because of the habitual tendencies written in our subconscious mind. Therefore, our sinful practices become habits, then we choose to repeat those habits, and the display of those habits present the person we really are (Jones, 2006). The unconscious mind, how complicated it is. Who can understand it?

What kind of things do you read?

Is anyone familiar with the lizard brain theory? Does anyone read Seth Godin?

Motivation: Broken

Your Motivation for this Monday:

You are absolutely

Good Enough to

Tell your Story

I wanted to give you the motivation straight forward because this is going to be one of those sad post.  One of those long post, full of insight, venting, and passionate expression of what I believe as true.  I am in one of my moods that creative people often get into. ..

I am a broken person.  Sometimes I cry uncontrollably in the dark of the night. Silently and alone, with the sobs of hopelessness bringing me a pounding in the frontal lobes of my mind.

Wait, that's not it

There used to be a hole in my soul

There used to be a hole in my soul and I couldn't quite get what was going to satisfy the yearning for better.  It lingered inside of me like a squirmy tadpole growing into something jumpy and hard to catch . . . Let me say this, I think if we all were a little better at communicating our feelings we would be able to help each other cope a little bit better in this life.  I can feel the hurt souls, the suffering, the pain, and the sadness that lives in this world.  I have found something that helps fill the void in my soul.  I want to tell you about the person I found that saved my life.

No, It is not the white guy in the video!
Don't watch that yet, let me tell you a little more. . .

"We are all very smart and astute, but we are ignorant when comes to issues of life."

-Lisa Bevere

I had a really hard time this morning after driving my mom to the airport.  First of all, I over slept.  My alarm didn't go off at 4:45am and I was late.  No problem, we figured it out, she drove the car over, met me at my house so that we could get on the road faster.  When I dropped her off at the airport, I didn't know that something was going to hit me so hard.  I cried, because my mommy was leaving as we approached the one year anniversary of my dad's struggle for survival and his eventual death from cardiac failure.

As I pulled back up to my house, my mom's car was parked in the driveway directly in front of me.  The black Volkswagen Passat was really my dad's car that he would often drive to my house.  As I parked,  I noticed a head moving in the little black car in front of me.  I saw a head moving in the driver's seat.  I closed my eyes and opened them again and spoke to myself "It can not be."  It was my dad with his black leather hat, moving his head like he was talking to someone in the passenger seat.  Again, "This cannot be!"  I got excited for a moment, then knew that if I approached the scene with a tad more inquiry, the vision would disappear.  I closed my eyes once more, and as I opened them I propped my self up a little to see exactly who was in the car.  But as I did, they were gone, and I started to cry uncontrollably.

Our mind often sees what it wants to see.  Our eyes send a message to our brain of what we rationalize we see.  The Holy Spirit shows us exactly what is going on in our soul.  That can be hard to make sense of sometimes.

I couldn't push myself to go into work today because I had to write.  I had to try to pull myself together. This is how I care for my soul. I used to have a lot of unhealthy habits that weren't apart of my purpose.  If  I were to go down the empty paths of darkness again, I know that it would be harder to get out.  Instead, I write.  It is my creative outlet. This is how I fill the emptiness that I have inside.  I am realizing that this is the God in me.  This is how he wants me to communicate with him and for him.  This is what I was created for and this is why it helps me in this world of chaos and disfunction.

Tell you story and understand that you must share it for your survival.  This blog is my survival.

We are always searching for what will make us feel better or be better.  The thing is, we are already good enough.  This is why I have to keep writing and telling everyone about the awesomeness of what I have found.  I found Jesus.  Not only have I found Jesus, but I have found a closer relationship with him.  There is something greater about the awesomeness of God that they don't teach you in school, or church, or any other organization that claims they know Jesus.  Jesus desires a closer relationship with you so that he could walk this journey with you.  He wants to help you through your trouble and your brokenness.  This is what he told me today:

"Don't you realize that I have you. I will never leave you nor forsake you.  You were made for a purpose and a reason.  You are special exactly how you are and for exactly who your are.  Don't be distracted by the things of this world.  Everything that I have for you, it is for you.  You don't have to try harder or try to be better.  Be exactly who you are.  I already died for the evil that are in the minds of men. Those who are not with me, seek to fulfill their own desires and lusts.  I have already fixed that problem.  Keep your eyes straight forward.  Do what I ask you to do.   I have started a work in you and I will complete it until the very end.  Put your trust in me.  Know that I got you.  You will go to the next place that I have prepared for you.  You can rest there, it will be ok.  I will prepare you for your next journey."

-Jesus

The world would love to glamorize the Journey, but the journey is not all glitter and gold.  To work for the things of this world is only a temptation of the enemy. Be careful of the road you take.  Be careful of the way you go.

The Lord shows me books.  Right before I started writing this blog this morning, God told me to write that I am broken.  I was like "This is supposed to be Motivation Monday, not Mow Me Down Monday."  But I paid attention.  He told me to look up the book, and I was like "I'm going to use 'Unashamed' and this will be a great post for BOOKS4PURPOSE. . ."  However, this was not what the Lord wanted me to share.  He told me to look the story up on You Tube, and it is here that the Lord started to minister to my weeping soul.  I pray that it will help you as well.

This is a story about a man who thought it was over for him.  He suffered from addiction, he was in recovery for three years, but something triggered him that made him fall into a spiral that would have eventually killed him.  He tells his story below.  He also wrote a book called "Broken."  You can click the video to listen to his story. . .

William Cope Moyers

The Lord is made stronger in our weakness.  Why?  Because we are able to share our story with others and help them in our communication. We speak so that others can see that NO ONE has it all figured out.  NO ONE can self sustain.  The world needs a savior.  We all need someone to save us because each and every one of us is broken.

God showed me that I was broken when, while on my personal Journey to find my purpose, he led me to attend a mental health seminar.  I was going for a Mental Health First Aid certification in order to help "other" people who battle with mental illness.  Little did I know, through the explanation of what a cry for help looked like, I was experiencing a lot of the symptoms:

Giving things away/massively
Preparing my family for a life with out me
Becoming isolated
quitting things I was once passionate about
Saying Good bye to people
and thanking them like I wasn't going to see them again
asking questions about life:
What is the meaning of life?
Why am I here?
Extreme Fatigue
Depression
Anxiety

I was having a mental breakdown, but I didn't know it!  The Spirit of God directed me to writing because he knew that this was the only way I would make it.  The Holy Spirit was keeping me in perfect peace.  He showed me that I, like everyone else, am broken.  The worse thing that you can do to a broken person is to keep beating them over the head with the fact that they are broken. This is the issue I have with the church format.  Broken people are calling other people broken and making people feel bad about who they are.  People are dying.  People are not finding the peace that the Holy spirit really has to offer. This is the same thing with the condition of the world. The best thing that we can do, is be patient and understanding until the world can also see that they are indeed broken. We teach in gentleness and in truth. We all are addicted to something.  Jesus gave us another chance at survival.  It's a choice to accept the gift of life.

 "This disease effects everyone."

-William Cope Moyers

We are all living in our disfunction.  We tend to operate and put on our masks in front of people.  What is really going on in the inside of man?  What is going on?  Why do we cry our silent tears and claim that no one understands because everyone else has it so together.  No one has it all together.  The world would like you to think so.  Hollywood would like you to think so.  The music industry wants to show you all the shine of the glimmer and glam, but it is all a false reality.  People only see what they want to see.  People are not happy. What is the answer?  The answer is and will always be Jesus.

William Cope Moyers
Unlike some popular memoirs that have fictionalized and romanticized the degradations of drug addiction, Broken is a true-life tale of recovery that stuns and inspires with virtually every page. The eldest son of journalist Bill Moyers, William Cope Moyers relates with unforgettable clarity the story of how a young man with every advantage found himself spiraling into a love affair with crack cocaine that led him to the brink of death-and how a deep spirituality allowed him to conquer his shame, transform his life, and dedicate himself to changing America's politics of addiction.

"William Cope Moyers's lucid, measured tale of his own plunge into crack-addled hell [is] frightening in its very realism." -USA Today

You are always ok, until you are not.

My writing is how I tell my story.  William writes and gives speeches to tell his story.  How will you tell yours?  You are absolutely good enough to tell your story.

2 Corinthians 12:9 New King James Version (NKJV)

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Motivation for Monday: Thank you for your Service

Thank you for your Service.

These are the words that are singing in my head this Veterans Day.  I sent these words to my brother for his work in the Army this morning.  I sincerely send my thanks and gratitude to all the veterans that have served in the armed forces.

We ought to give credit to where credit is due.  We need to train ourselves to recognize that there are some of us who have sacrificed a lot.   There is a reward for serving others.  There is a reward to the spirit for being the person that stands in the face of harm to fight for what is right.  We send our love and appreciation to those who have fought in America's armed forces.  We send our gratitude to those who go unrecognized.

Friends, if you are not aware, there is a spiritual war going on all around us.  It has been since before the beginning of our creation.  There are angels who are fighting all around us this very minute.   They are fighting to get us out. We are in the part of the war where the enemy has been defeated, we just are still living in zones of chaos.  Many of us don't realize that the war is over, this is just the last attempt for the enemy to try to deceive the spirits who remain on the battle field.  Victory was ours two thousand years ago.  We just have to wake up from the trauma of the battle.  It is time for us to collect the spoils of the war.  It is time for us to let each other know, the king is coming back to bring order once again.

Here is you motivation for Monday:

Victory is Ours!

The Battle is Won!

Let us rejoice in the coming of our King!

There are those among us who know what it means to fight in this spiritual war.  Let us give them thanks for their service.  Thank you to those who answered their call.  Thank you to those in the ministry to service God's people.  Thank you to those who go out to do missionary work, apologetic work, prophetic work, evangelical work, and all work that teaches about the love of Jesus Christ.  I want those who are reading this to understand that Jesus Loves you.  He cares for you.  He has fought for you and he will not let you go.  He is looking for you right now in the aftermath of the battle.  All he needs from you is a shout, a cry, a call for his name:

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10 13-15 KJV

Thank you to those who preach the Gospel of the Good News Of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your service!

In class this week we have been discussing the issue of plagiarism.  I thought it was odd, not because I don't understand the topic of plagiarizing someone's work and claiming it as your own, but because everything that I have read thus far in this doctorate class has been plagiarized from the word of God.  Truthfully, a lot of things that have been claimed as great scientific discovery in this world has been plagiarized from the word of God.  Now, because I know who I am, I am not afraid to speak my truth in my journey of higher education, so I wrote the following:

"When approaching the subject of plagiarism I get very concerned about presentation.  When a writer is presenting his work he wants to show his ideas and perhaps his process to the arrival of those ideas.  At least this is my goal and at no point would I want anyone to feel like I am taking their thoughts to use as my own; nor, would I want anyone to present my ideas as their original work.  We live in a world that claims to want to be fair.  However, I have a complex in my spirit.  There are two truths that are fighting with each other: 1) we should always give credit to the original author 2) No one’s ideas are original because they all come from the creator.
Solomon writes:

“What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 1:9

The conundrum is, to whom is the real credit to be given?"

The answer my friends is that the credit should be given to the creator, Our God.

He is our Lord, Strong and Mighty!

He is the Lord, Mighty in Battle!

He has won the Victory!

Thank you Father for your Service

One last thing before I go.  I want to share a poem with you from a new book that I have been working on called "Little Black Boy," available on Amazon soon. . .
Winning

Although we lose souls we are winning
Although we cry out with our most wrenching groans
Although we drag ourselves treacherously through the trials of life
We will yet gain victory on our thrones
Teach us Lord how to fight
How to pray and how to speak
How to comfort each other's wounds
as we approach the mountain's peak

We do not fight against flesh and blood
so our spiritual power we find
We ask for our spiritual weapons in faith
our tears collected, so we can bind

We bind all lies, all powers, all plans
All maleficent devils, sit down where you stand
with all of your destruction and your impish cruel ways
You continue to be no match for our most magnificent praise

You are defeated!

All your tricks and schemes
to take our royal right
Will not prevail against the mighty
Our King, the Word, Our light

Strong in battle
Give praise to the Lord of Lords
Mighty is he
Give thanks to the King of Kings
Lord we pray for peace in our souls
While the world lives chaotic around us
For we know when you call us home
We will give thanks to the one who has found us

All ye fools who say with in themselves,
that there is no creator on high
Even you in time of trouble
give reverence to God when you cry

All ye mighty men who say in their heart
I have achieved this all alone
Even you who believes in only yourself
It is the Lord who will carry you home
