Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Remember that song, "Don't Worry, Be Happy?" Well, it is so true. Your state of mind has a lot to do with how you see your life and how you live your life. The way you think has a lot to do with the way that you speak. Today I just want to speak to you about those feelings of anxiety that visit us from time to time. You know, those feelings that get us down, takes away our peace, or keeps us trapped in worry. I want to teach you how to fight those feelings of anxiety through the word of God. I want to talk to you about the "Good Word." The "Good Word" is a gift to our minds. We have it not only to learn and study the ways of God, but to strengthen our minds against attacks of depression.
Here is you Motivation for Monday
No weapon formed against you will prosper
because you have the power of God's
Good Word!
Personally and spiritually speaking I hold great honor to the gift of speech. I also understand the importance of venting. The thoughts that stress us out can tell us a lot about our state of mind. Getting things out of your unconscious mind is an important step to understanding who you are.
Many people are not aware of how powerful their words are in shaping the reality around them. One must understand that what comes out of the mouth is actually what is hidden in the mind. The words that one speaks are confirmation of one’s personal truths hidden in the subconscious. Hence, your spoken word is confirming what you hold as truth. It is a constant conditioning of your mind which then reflects who you are. With that said, words are very powerful.
Yes, I think that one can get their mind set on track by using the right words. Joshua, Jonah, David, Paul, and many others used positive words to lift their spirits. They thought on things that were good, true, and pure. This is how you can help the mind come out of depression. Paul writes:
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8
Jesus said it is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man, but it is what comes out. Self talk is a very important aspect of creating a positive life. Positive speech about yourself and others create positive thoughts, which creates positive relationships. We must first learn to help ourselves in this, before we can help others.
A “good word” is a positive word, a word that encourages, not discourages. The Bible tells us to think good thoughts. We need to always continue to practice thinking good thoughts so that we can speak good thoughts. The word of God tells us that this type of practice will keep our minds in perfect peace: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee (Isaiah 26:3 KJV); And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7).
We are directed to Cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2 Corinthians 10:5). Perhaps this is why he directed Joshua to meditate on the word day and night in order to have good success (see Joshua chpt. 1).
There is no doubt that depression is real. However, the bible directs us in many examples of how to get out of negative self talk and to start speaking life into our lives. Jesus says that he is the truth and the life. He is the prince of peace. He is the word of God. Perhaps it would be very helpful for everyone to practice positive declarations. Speaking the word of God into our lives is such a powerful tool to fight against negative thoughts.

The following are examples of how to use the Word of God to refute negative self talk. Start to encourage yourself with the truth of God's word. Read and study the promises he has over your life.
You didn't get the job because you weren't qualified:
"I'm the head and not the tail, I'm above and not beneath." (Deuteronomy 28:13)
You’re not smart enough to figure this problem out:
"I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
It's too scary, and you are all alone:
"Although I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil, for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me . . ." (Psalms 23)
It's not going to happen for you, you should just give up:
"I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Jesus Christ." (Philippians 3:14)
God isn't going to bless you, everything is going wrong in your life :
"The Lord blesses me and keeps me. The Lord makes his face shine upon me and is gracious unto me. The Lord lifts his countenance upon me and gives me peace." (Numbers 6:22)
